From Norman Vincent Peele to Oprah, lots of people have adhered to the power of positive thinking. You are what you eat. Talk the talk, walk the walk. I could throw a hundred different power phrases and/or quotes on here. The cool thing though is there are kernels of truth in all of it. You can think your way to simple wellness, as you also eat your way to a healthy lifestyle.
Self-image is the idea one has of one’s abilities. appearance, and personality.
Abilities: We all have knowledge of our strengths and weaknesses. There are times when I obsess over things I said or have done the previous day. Yesterday I skipped my workout, stopped at Starbucks for my favorite white chocolate mocha, and then continued to beat myself up for falling off track so badly. We’ve all been there…those are the days we need to really be kind to ourselves, after all, we are human and life can get in our way. Be mindful and purposeful with your thoughts, acknowledge how you feel and move on.
Appearance: You know how kick-ass you feel in your favorite outfit? The one that pulls out the beautiful colors of your eyes? Make you goal be to feel that way in whatever you wear, on any random day. Be that best version of yourself, every day. And if you can’t quite hit the mark with the outfit, you do have the power over what goes on in between your ears. Harvest that confidence that fave outfit produces, cultivate…initiate…maintain it.
Personality: Are you an introvert or an extrovert? I am an introvert. Each have their own struggles, and for me, being around crowds of people makes me feel overwhelmed and it drains me. So yep, you guessed it, Im not great at parties. I much prefer the quite company of a few close friends, this is a pretty common trait for most introverts. Time spent alone regenerates me and makes me feel whole again. While it’s good to get out of your comfort zone occasionally, you should also be aware of what helps you feel strong again.
It’s all about the inter-connectivity of life…mind, spirit, and the chemistry of our bodies. Don’t get up every day and be overwhelmed with this issue, that facial blemish, or the fact that you treated yourself to a latte. Relax, like I said, you are human. Every day is a new possibility and a new chance to get it done better than the day before. Mind, body, and spirit….living simple, living well, your daily challenge.
